Eyes:

Zack has average sized eyes had are slightly squinty. They are a lighter medium blue in the middle and then the outer edges are dark blue, but sometimes they may appear dark green depending on what he wears. And, his blue orbs are surrounded by thick but slightly short dark blond eye lashes.

Hair:

Evident in his facial hair, eyebrows, and eye lashes Zack has dirty blond hair that is almost constantly kept the same length. His blond hair will lighten in the summer a couple shades and do look a couple shades darker occasionally in the winter. His hair curls at the ends and looks a little shaggy.

Skin Tone:

He is a light peachy tan, while he doesn’t burn easily at all he tans really easy and after a day in the sun he can look a shade darker and can have faint tan lines.

Facial Hair:

Zack usually has slight facial hair, it’s grown out so that it’s not scratchy but it’s not long enough to be full. He will shave it off if something calls for it but he prefers slight facial hair.

Build:
He is muscular, but he’s not too muscular. He has muscles on his arms and a toned body, he has more of a four-pack instead of a six-pack. Zack can fight and can hold his own, but he’s not as muscular as say Derek.

Clothes Style:
He wears a lot of jeans in a similar fashion as Derek. But his shirts differ from button-ups to normal tees. The difference between his work clothes and casual clothes is that his casual clothes might have holes or stains on them. He owns suits but he doesn’t often wear them. He also owns hoodies and jackets that if it gets below 70 degrees. Usually on his feet he wears black DC shoes or Nike running shoes. If he's on vacation though you can bet on seeing him in shorts (usually thigh to knee length), a tank top, and sandals or flip flops.

Personality:
Whenever you first meet Zack you meet a very happy man. He tends to be more on the playful side and is always quick to crack jokes. He’s the type of person that, when someone is sad, he can cheer them up no matter who they are just because he has that natural effect on people. He’s a flirt too, being seen as more on the promiscuous side (also has been called a whore once or twice before). Zack isn’t afraid to flirt with guys or girls and he doesn’t seem to notice if he makes a guy uncomfortable by flirting with him. Zack can also be serious so he’s not all play all the time. Zack even while not being playful still has an air. But when he gets serious people do take him seriously. And while it takes a little push to get Zack angry when he’s angry people do take him seriously and while he isn’t too much of a violent person if he’s angry enough he can be the person punching holes in the walls.

When he's not in a good mood which can happen from time to time he's a lot less happy and a lot more blunt and he can be kind of an asshole but he doesn't realize he's being an asshole until afterwards when he's had time to think over what he's said. Then he does feel bad, and depending on what he said he may or may not tell the person sorry.

History:

Zack was born in San Diego, California and from the very start his life was a bit difficult. He was born three months premature and had to stay in the hospital two months after, and because of this he does have minor breathing problems and he can get nose bleeds easily but thankfully, other than that Zack didn’t seem to have too many problems other than being a little smaller than most other babies. He was raised by his mom for the most part until he was probably closer to 4 years old which was when his dad began to come around more. See, his parents weren’t married but his dad decide to stick around because he didn’t want to pay child support. But his parents’ relationship was a toxic one, they didn’t really like each other but that was enough cause for Chase to stick around because he knew Julie would stick him with paying child support and that was something he didn’t want.

Around 4 though Zack’s dad started to abuse him both physically and sexually until he was 9 years old and he saw a sexual abuse thing at school.

Zack’s teachers did notice that he would come to school with bruises but he went to school where that wasn’t something teachers looked into since it was a poor school in a shitty part of the town and if they looked into every bruised child they’d never get anything else done. But when he brought up the sexual abuse his dad was approached and was almost arrested but he ended up running and pretty much never being heard from again. Zack was put through therapy which actually did help since he couldn’t remember half of what his dad did to him in the first place. And after a year in therapy Zack was mostly back to himself although he still held some fear toward adult males (but as he grew older he came more and more comfortable around them).

As he got older, Zack began to realize that he was attracted to males as well as females (this was around 15 years old). At first he hid his feelings from his mom, but when he fell for another guy in his high school class and began to date him Zack finally came out to his mom. Julie was horrified and ended up calling him a faggot, queer, etc. to try and shame him into realizing he wasn’t gay. Although Zack assured her he liked girls, too, she kept calling him names. When he ended up getting caught having sex with his boyfriend Fin, his mom kicked him out. Zack ended up moving in with Fin for a few months secretly since Fin’s parents didn’t know either. So after about three or four months when Fin’s parents found out Zack was kicked out and Fin sent to a camp to “fix him.”

He lived homeless until he was 17 when he was able to get a job and saved up enough to get a place of his own. The male had still gone to school and by 18 he graduated with almost straight A’s. This was when Zack met his first girlfriend Jasmin. She accepted him and actually found it a turn on that he also liked guys. They dated and stayed together when Zack went off to college. Jasmin was good for Zack, she really brought him out of his shell and the 19 year old ended up accepting himself completely for who he was. But half way through his first year Jasmin ended up getting Zack drunk and she ended up getting him into a threesome with another guy who was less than gentle with Zack. Needless to say when Zack told Jasmin that he didn’t want to have another threesome they ended up getting into a fight (Jasmin called him a prude) and he found out that she had been cheating on him with the guy since their first month in college.

So they broke up and Zack stayed single, and after his second year got his Master’s (MA) in psychology and went to work as a police officer a year after, at the age of 21. He stayed an officer for 11 years before he applied to the BAU. A year later he finally got in and has been working for the BAU for a full three weeks.

He hasn’t spoken to his mother since she kicked him out but he has kept in touch with his uncle and his uncle’s wife.

Zack lives in a one floor studio apartment. It has a large living room which for him doubles as a bedroom and has a pull out couch, a large flat screen TV, a decent sized kitchen, a full bathroom, and a dining room although he keeps his workout equipment in there instead of a table since he has a coffee table in front of his couch that he eats at.

Hobbies:
He loves to surf, write (although he hasn’t had the time now with his job at the BAU), and he paints although he’s actually not very good at it. He does it because he likes the feeling of the paint against the canvas and it soothes him.

Medical Problems:
Zack has non-specific asthma. It is mostly triggered by the combination of humidity and running for long periods of time (longer than say 45 minutes). He carries on him a fast acting inhaler which does work and he takes a controlled inhaler every morning. Unless the humidity is above 85% he doesn’t have problems.

He has frequent nosebleeds which can be caused by it being dry (humidity being 10% and below), blowing his nose too hard, rubbing his nose too hard, and of course if he gets hit in the nose is more than occasionally causes it to bleed. This isn’t an issue that he has sought medical attention for and sees it as being nothing of concern because he’s had this issue since he was an infant.

Zack sometimes has nosebleeds also because high blood pressure but that's because of his anger issues.

Eyes:
Abbey has average sized eyes that are a light silvery-blue with a very dark navy blue ring circling the edges. She believes that her eyes are her best features because they can be much more expressive than her facial expressions and she strongly believes that her eyes help put people at ease around her. Her blue orbs are framed by dark lashes that aren’t thick and they aren’t really long.

Hair:
Her hair shade differs because it can go from pale blond to a golden blond depending on if it’s summer or winter. Her eyebrows are constantly a dark blond though so at times when her hair is lighter they look much darker. Her golden locks are by nature curly but not extremely so, there are the days where she straightens her hair but usually it’s left alone and merely pulled into a half up half down ponytail or all up. And her hair falls half way between her shoulder blades and her elbows.

Skin Tone:
She’s fair skinned but she burns easily and can look pink if she does too much. Her face becomes flushed very easily and can appear that she’s blushing but it usually isn’t the case.

Bust:
She doesn’t have terribly large breasts because they’re a 34B, but she adores her chest. Abbey believes that if her chest was any larger she’d dislike them and if they were any smaller she’d look more boy-ish.

Build:
The blond is a little more inverted pear shaped. Her hips are a little narrower than her chest but not by too much, but her waist isn’t narrow enough to be called hourglass figured. If Abbey’s honest she is pretty indifferent to her body type.

Clothes Style:
Her work attire isn’t nearly as nice as her cousin’s. To work she wears nice jeans and blouses with usually a nice knit sweater over top (some people say her style is ‘granny’) and flats because she’s terrible in heels when she’s trying to run. Her gun is kept on her right side on her belt or belt loops. When outside of the workplace she… doesn’t change all that much. She will wear regular tees and tank tops but she likes to still wear knit sweaters. Abbey can class it up and she’ll wear skirts and dresses and maybe some heels if the situation calls for it.

But as she works more with the BAU she’s beginning to learn how to distance herself from the Unsubs more easily.  

Personality:
Abbey can be as stated very sympathetic to the Unsubs and everyone all around. This does give her a slight advantage when it has to deal with getting others to open up to her. Because it does seem like she understands where the Unsub or whoever is coming from more often than not this allows her to get closer to them than someone else who tries the “bad cop” approach. But this obviously is one of her downfalls because people can take advantage of her kindness and turn around and hurt her. Over time she does learn how to stop getting so emotionally invested in people.

She is an all-around nice person. Abbey listens to her superiors and shows respect when needed. She doesn’t talk down to children and if someone’s in need of help you can always count on her to be that person but again this is a downfall of hers because it’s easy for people to use this to their advantage. Because she’s so eager to please others she can spread herself too thin and exhaust herself and she can become emotionally drained.

Underneath it she’s kind of lonely and can obsess over her choices, she’ll wonder if she made the right one to a point where it’s unneeded stress that she puts on herself which can cause her to be depressed. She also is still a little flinch-y around people if they raise their hands or make sudden movements around her and that stresses her out too because she hates people knowing about what happened to her when she was younger.

In a nutshell you can say Abbey is a nice person who just spreads herself out too thin and can become easily stressed and depressed.

History:

 

Abigale was born to the Hotchner family: from a very young age she and Aaron shared something in common and it was that her father was also pretty abusive. As a toddler he would scream at her, hit her, and he would lock her up in a closet for days. This could be why she has always been skinny, but she never puts thought into this. Her mother died when she was 1 so she never knew her mom and really had no one to help her since Aaron had his hands full with his own problems. Abbey kept quiet about the abuse, and when she was closer to 6 she learned that the closet wasn’t so bad. In fact the closet had ended up becoming something of a safe haven for her when her dad would become drunk and even more violent. Abbey would hide in the closet with a lamp, pillows, and books and wait until the next morning when she would have to clean up after her dad and make sure he was still breathing.

Abbey since she could remember took care of herself, she didn’t mind it. How could you not mind something that you have known since birth pretty much? So the girl went through elementary school learning how to hide the bruises, sprains, and covering up and broken bones with effortless excuses (since she’s so sweet she can easily get away with lying because people believe her). Abbey got through elementary school with ease thanks to her best friend Daniel. He was like a brother to her, but when she entered middle school she began to have more problems. Her father got worse and Aaron began to come around more. They were visiting her and Aaron had noticed that she had a broken arm for what seemed like the third time in two years. The 12-year-old tried to convince the two that she was fine but Aaron ended up not believing her and eventually they took her from Dwayne and she ended up staying with Aaron and Haley since Aaron hadn’t wanted her to be put into the foster system and they didn’t have any other family for her to go to that he trusted.

Abbey focused on her school and she could graduate a year early which she did. The girl at 17 went to college and she decided to go for her PhD in psychology. For seven years Abbey stayed in college and studied, all the while she did keep in contact with Aaron and Sean. She would write them or call them every other day and on vacations or breaks she’d visit her cousins because they both worried over her more than they’d actually let her know. Aaron treated her a lot more like his daughter than cousin and the following events is why he ended up pulling a few strings for her and getting her into the BAU after she worked for only a year instead of the minimum three years. But Abbey isn’t aware of this fact.

While she had been in college Abbey had met back up with Daniel who had been gone since they were both 13, so upon meeting her old best friend the two started to rekindle the friendship that they had lost. This was in the first year of college, during the second year it was like they hadn’t even been separated. They were best friends all over again, and when they entered their third year of college together they ended up living together (it was a platonic relationship because Daniel was a very loud and proud homosexual) but at the time they didn’t know that Daniel had a stalker, the stalker was someone who he had once dated. So during their fourth year, a year since they moved in together, Daniel’s stalker Ross ended up attacking the two of them. He took them to his house and hid them in his basement where he beat and starved them.

They were kept down there for four full months and going on five. Aaron had been part of the search for her but because he didn’t know Daniel he wasn’t able to find her until going on the fifth month that she was missing. During the whole time Abbey kept herself between Ross and Daniel to make sure Ross didn’t rape Daniel, this caused her to be beat even more but because she was already used to being hit she managed to put up with it. Going on the fifth month Ross was at his ends with Abbey and he had knocked Daniel out and drug Abbey by her hair up the stairs and into the kitchen where he was just about ready to kill her when they were found because once she was drug upstairs she screamed and his neighbors called the police. Ross had ended up shot in the chest and killed. She and Daniel were taken to the hospital and afterwards Daniel left to go to Europe to get away from it all. They still keep in contact, he sends her photos and letters and she does likewise.

Aaron got her back into college and she did graduate with her PhD on time with the help of Adderall (she didn’t tell Aaron she was taking it but Sean knows). Abbey wasn’t addicted to it but once she got off of it was when she went to the doctor and was prescribed anti-depressants. Abbey worked with the local police department before she was recruited to the BAU where she’s worked for a full year.

She also has knee and back issues due to the severe abuse she took during her time with Ross. She can do her job but if she’s standing or doing too much her back or right knee will begin to bother her to the point where she has to take OTC pain medications.

If she’s really excited or really distraught and crying she’ll get hiccups. It’s really not something that causes her harm but it’s just sort of annoying because she has really high-pitched hiccups and it embarrasses her.
